As counter-intuitive as it sounds, writers are not always in control of every element of a game's story. Sometimes the job is making the best of the directives you're given. (and that's okay!)

When I worked on Space Marine 2 I became the target of a mass harassment campaign by the worst corners of the 40K fandom. Saber tried to deal with the problem by asking me to remove that I worked for them from my social media. I refused. Not at all surprised by this behaviour from Karch.

Games aren't made by studios, they're made by people. The studio is just the logo on the side of the building. The way this industry is undervaluing, abusing, and discarding people is shameful, and it's doing damage to this medium we will never fully know. All while execs line their pockets.
