Safety is our core value. We care deeply about our staff and customers, and that will never change. We remain focused on providing a safe system for all in collaboration with our partners.

Metro has made historic investments and taken decisive action to improve safety for both employees and customers.
• Increased police staffing and citations, leading to record low crime and reduction in crime against staff
• Millions of dollars in investments in realtime cameras and bus operator barriers (100% enclosure by spring 2027)
• June 2025 Banning policy implemented; ~ 1,000 offenders banned to date
• Metro's GM has publicly called for a federal banning list akin to TSA's "no fly list" and pushed for violators to be held accountable by prosecutors and judges
• Metro requested approval from DC Council in June 2025 to allow special police officers on buses to increase security
(ATU lobbied against this safety enhancement)

This weekend, along with Red Line summer construction (now through September 6), trains will single track on the Orange Line between Vienna & West Falls Church. To complete your trip inbound toward DC or outbound toward Vienna, you must transfer trains at West Falls Church. wmata.com/weekend 🟠
