Always a good time for this - but some times are more always than others. Long overdue for a strategic alliance between humanism, humanitarianism, human rights work (embedded in ecology and humane ethics).

Chris Geidner@chrisgeidner.bsky.social · 4w agoBREAKING: The U.S. Department of Justice announced on Friday that it reached an “agreement” with Mount Sinai Health System in which it will “cease providing” gender-affirming medical care to minors and dedicate $2 million to providing care to those “suffering harmful consequences” of such care.
Pretty sure TOS answered the latter question definitively and almost immediately (by establishing there was no question about it).

Hahaha, well. At least I know it wasn't my novel. I abandoned it in 93 (though I didn't know it at the time), it was post-apocalyptic NOT dystopian (under-appreciated difference), I never submitted it to anyone, AND it wasn't stupid. (The back story was eerily prescient but whatever.)

People say we can't compare this to the Third Reich because of the atrocities but we only found out about the atrocities after the fact when it was all said and done and we're not done with this yet so I am sure the worst stomach churning shit has yet to be revealed.

The Jedi-Sith confrontation in Episode 6, mainly from the moment Skywalker Jr severs Sr's forearm to the moment Sr tosses the emperor into the abyss. I love watching each of them think to a conclusion, without dialogue or voiceover.

In English, the foot is not part of the leg. In Hebrew, they are the same thing - although there are separate terms for thigh, shin and ankle (just not foot). Lending weight to the argument that the knee is hinge to the leg: in Hebrew, the knee and the elbow are the same thing (in different limbs).

Feh. This is an interesting thread, but this is a bad distillate. I'm not saying it doesn't work; I'm not even saying it isn't necessary. I'm saying that it can't be blessed. What was codified in this example, as writer acknowledges, was benefit for some at others' expense.
