It’s always fascinating to learn why books are written. ‘Jungle Commandos’ is an outstanding book, and a great tribute to Captain Suns and his comrades. Highly recommended.

I live a couple of hours from Bordeaux; Arcachon, where the fires are burning, is another hour south from Bordeaux. The air smells smoky this morning, and this photo doesn’t show mist: it’s smoke. The world is literally burning. And some people argue that dealing with emissions is too expensive.
Do airport and rail station announcers ever listen to announcements? If so, why do they insist on speaking so fast that echoes render their announcements incomprehensible?
I’m very proud of many of my books, but this is the best yet. My co-author (and daughter) has greatly raised the standard. The story of a city that wouldn’t die. And as a bonus: order now at a discount.
This is how good neighbours behave. Not by childish tantrums and threats of tariffs.

#AstroMonday today takes us to thr faint constellation Monoceros, next to Orion. Within it is another of my favourite objects, the Rosette Nebula. It’s the first deep sky object I tried to capture, and it took several attempts over the years to get this picture.
A suggestion for election reporting. Instead of saying ‘XYZ won with 40% of the votes’, say ‘XYZ won with 20% of those eligible voting for them’. Turnout matters, and emphasising how low turnout distorts results may encourage more people to vote.

Anyone telling you education is the enemy is protecting themselves from an informed public. An informed electorate is the foundation of a healthy democracy.
