Watching midterm projections trickle in last night gave me back a tiny flicker of optimism, but the knowledge that there's a LOT of time for ratfuckery (non-sexual) between now and January makes it difficult to hold onto for fear of getting burned.

Three of my five players for Ten Candles tonight had a Brink that was, in essence, "Willing to trip friends to escape a bear". It was a surprise, but a welcome one.

It's incredibly petty, but I don't think I've ever resented my sheltered Baptist upbringing more. Everyone is on the dance floor enjoying themselves, but here I am on the sidelines wasted yet too self-conscious to join them despite wanting to.

Short ramble: I don't think I understand the "why" of posting on social media. Too personal and it's oversharing to strangers, but if it's impersonal it's just more noise. Should I be getting some positive feeling from it? What about those who read one of my posts? Why post even this?

Pro tip: Tomorrow can't catch you if, instead of sleeping, you stay up doing very important busywork. Example: make a catalog of every book (fiction, nonfiction, and tabletop RPG) you own. Include title and author name, then go down a rabbit hole learning how IBSNs work. Easily kills hours.

Got a free bookcase from work! It helped alleviate the burden on the one I already had, but more than anything made more obvious the need for a third bookcase exclusively for the DVD/Blu-ray collection.

Looking at the monster during the fight: "How is this not a party wipe?" The errata after the fight: "Take the danger rating and double it, then drastically reduce its health" Translation: "This eats low-level characters like popcorn and should not be in this module made for low-level characters"

One of my Local Friendly Game Stores had a copy of The Laundry Files RPG (second edition) rulebooks and scenarios. I successfully resisted the impulse buy, but at what cost?

I knew Hadestown was based on the story of Eurydice and Orpheus, but I didn't know it was *the* story. Hadestown: The Musical: The Movie was a pretty good show.

I enjoyed He-Man a lot more than I was expecting. Having Nicholas Galitzine running around in a leather harness and skirt half the movie definitely helped. How long will it be before we get the first Mattel Cinematic Universe crossover movie?

Brand new game system. Five players, including one completely new to the hobby. In hindsight there's no world in which we managed to both build characters and start playing in a single afternoon. The upside: we can jump right in and start with minimal bookkeeping next time!

When is too late to start taking sword-fighting lessons? Are we past the point where it'd be a useful skill to have in the Mad Max-style post-apocalypse? Eh, whatever. Learning might be fun regardless.
