70ish days after I moved out I FINALLY got my deposit. Adding read receipt trackers to your emails really keeps landlords accountable and responsive and also throwing the law at ‘em really helps get shit done. Fuck that guy. I was just about to start gearing up for a lawsuit. I’m happy it’s over.

It’s illegal for a landlord to not return your security deposit, and if any of it is used for repairs you must receive a written statement of exactly what the deposit was used for and it must be reasonable.
