Legitimate authorities do not pass human trafficking laws in the middle of the night through “vote-a-ramas”. With a direct democracy, we would veto harmful laws like this straight away. In fact, we typically wouldn’t have to because veto power also serves as a deterrent. The Social Contract:

My understanding is that it is not explicitly precluded. But what I'm talking about is a constitutional amendment that would grant us the right of recall. Either that or throwing the whole thing out and constructing a Direct Democracy, perhaps similar to the Swiss system. Either way we ... 1/3
