Call for Proposals: What does an edited volume look like in a post-print world? What does an edited volume “get” you (in a professional sense)? Do we even still need edited volumes?

REED is turning 50 next year! We want to hear from you about our impact in the classroom. Do you use REED collections (print or digital) as part of your teaching? If so, how?
Essentially too tired post #dh2025 to be thoughtful or articulate. Also am standing in line at passport control at Newark Airport and I think every baby in New Jersey just started crying at the same time. They must have checked the news.
I always forget to take pics during conferences but I did go to Sintra the day before #DH2025 and saw these:
One of my students just described herself as 'a digital humanist in training' in her final paper (she also just declared the DH minor, so maybe she's feeling particularly confident in her development). Anyway, yay!
"On Tyranny" is a #1 NYT bestseller again. I wish the moment were different. But I’m glad the book is useful. And grateful for all the kind words about putting the 20 lessons to work. snyder.substack.com/p/twenty-les...

More dahlia tubers arrived today. Planting as many flowers and vegetables as I can this year.
2/ On Tuesday, the people of Wisconsin delivered a complete rebuke to Elon Musk as he attempted to buy a State Supreme Court seat. Even in the reddest corners of Florida… Anti-Trump and anti-Musk energy shaved roughly 15 to 20 points off Republicans’ November margins.
Is it just me or has there been a dearth of reportage about the Hands Off protests on linear news media?
Snow drops, croci (yellow and purple), dwarf irises, and just-about-daffodils. Breathe.
The dwarf irises and daffodils look like they’d be happy to Come up. Not sure how the crocuses are faring yet. But I’m hopeful.
We are very excited to officially announce that the University of Galway will host the DH2027 conference in Ireland from June 28 to July 3, 2027. More information will be coming soon. Congratulations to the Galway team! We look forward to joining you in 2027! #DH2027 #digitalhumanities #Galway
It was ever thus: minutes after grades come out one student who did a pretty lame final project emails to complain that he ended up with an A- rather than an A. I’d rather focus on the student who struggled all semester but knocked it out of the park on the final.
Grading. And procrastinating. And grading. And … rinse and repeat.
It’s not Day of DH, but it’s definitely going to be a good day full of DH (and contrary to what it might seem, not all my days are DHy!)
On this #DayofDH I’m working on a conference proposal, drafting some text for a grant proposal, prepping to teach my students that you can integrate mapping into text analysis, and cleaning up some entity-rich encoded texts. It’s a happy day!
Playfully: usually I do the pen and ink stuff on other platforms, but a while back I noticed that a lot of folks in DH had been sorted (or self-sorted) into Ravenclaw, so I thought I’d share this here ….
Me all week: today I’m going to get caught up on all that grading. Me every day of said week: meh, I’ll focus on the grading tomorrow. Me today: s**t! I’ve got to do all the grading today!
