One of the most important stories I've worked on - give it a read.
TPP is Leeds' biggest tech company, providing digital health records for thousands of GP practices and the prison estate. So why did we find its flagship product, SystmOne, repeatedly cropping up in inquests? theexchange.news/tpp-systmone...
On election night, the Leeds greens were buzzing, having almost doubled their presence on the council. This week, a party member described two of the newly elected representatives as "c***cillors" in a shared whatsapp group. How did we get from there, to here? theexchange.news/the-greens-w...
The Greens were riding high. How did it fall apart so quickly?
‘Let b real, c***cillor Cristiana and Eden went to the right wing media over there, racial biased things’

When we asked the Greens why internal documents stated that Mothin Ali had received council cash because he "feels the national party isn’t adequately supporting the leadership team including him" their City lawyers swung into action. That won't stop us publishing. theexchange.news/leaked-docum...
Leaked documents cast doubt on explanation for Mothin Ali’s councillor cash
'Mothin feels the national party isn’t adequately supporting the leadership team including him, so he’d appreciate this to help make ends meet'

The day before our big campaign ended we hit our goal: 1,000 new members joining. Thank you to everyone who got involved. Now we've got to get cracking on those pledges! We've launched our new writers programme, and on Friday we'll be bringing you our first Good News Edition...
I've been really grateful for Tony's support as we've launched The Exchange, and it's great to see Media North mag picking up the story:
A few words from me about @millmedia.bsky.social's new West Yorkshire news outlet @theexchangeleeds.bsky.social in the latest Media North mag.
You’ve probably heard enough of us telling you why it would be great if you joined. But what if you could hear from the people who have already signed up about why they wanted to get involved?
We are sooooo close now. We can almost taste it. It just needs another 100 people to sign up with only days to go. Hit that link, get us there, and unlock five amazing pledges for Sheffield: www.sheffieldtribune.co.uk/help-make-sh...
Would you look at that... 900. We’re close now. Very close. But this is the hardest bit - the final 100 people who decide whether we hit 1,000 and deliver all five pledges for Sheffield.
I'm very sorry to hear this news. Giles was a huge help last year when we were doing our reporting on Andrew Milne and Sheffield leaseholds. He was very generous with his time and clear in his advice. www.theguardian.com/law/2026/jun...

My colleagues @danhayesjourno.bsky.social @molliesimpson.bsky.social @djstimms.bsky.social and Vicky Munro produce some of the best reporting in this country - they need to get to 1,000 new members by the end of the week to fulfil their pledges to the city. Help them out 🗞️🗞️🗞️
We're really in the last chance saloon now. We just need 250 more members, and we'll put our five big pledges into place for Sheffield. You can pay what you want for two months and get us over the line: www.sheffieldtribune.co.uk/help-make-sheffield-better
Wow. 3 weeks. 750 new members. Which is exciting. And, if we’re completely honest, slightly nerve wracking. It means we’re close. But not quite there yet.
Would you believe it, we pretty much did this in one take. I'm a natural. More important though is what I'm saying: that Sheffield's inequalities need a proper looking at. So go to: sheffieldtribune.co.uk/pledge and get us to our big 1,000 target
Sheffield looks like one city - but is it? 🤷 People’s experiences of living here can be very different, depending on who they are and where they live.
We actually might do it. Extraordinary
If you’ve looked at our homepage today, you might have noticed the progress bar has turned a very encouraging shade of white... As of this afternoon, 506 brilliant people have joined our campaign 🙌 We are exactly at the halfway mark!
🗣 “My mum met my dad at the fair.” After nearly 900 years, one of West Yorkshire’s oldest traditions is under threat.
Looooads of people told us they want us to do something about disinformation. Here's @molliesimpson.bsky.social talking about why it matters and what we can do 👇
You have JUST THREE WEEKS LEFT to subscribe as a Tribune member on our “pay what you want” offer 🗞️ If we hit our target of adding 1,000 members by 21 June, we’re going to fulfill a set of pledges that were chosen by you. Here’s pledge number one. www.sheffieldtribune.co.uk/pledge
Politics in a nutshell! - Well done - Thank you! - Let's talk - I've been fired.
Awards evening tonight! Very exciting
The Sheffield Tribune investigated allegations that London-based solicitor Andrew Milne used leasehold loopholes to extract sums of £25,000 upwards from Yorkshire homeowners. Milne has subsequently been arrested as part of a criminal investigation.
Wow, our campaign is off to a flying start! It’s been just under a week since what might have been one of the most exciting days in Tribune history - and we’re still buzzing from it.
A top team with 16 years of experience between them. Can't wait to get going very soon!
Well, have we got some news for you 🚨 With two weeks to go until launch, we wanted to introduce two of the people helping shape The Exchange. Introducing: Brad Deas and Mia Jankowicz.
It is absolutely extraordinary for the special advisor of a serving cabinet minister to be threatening a British media outlet with an injunction on what seem like deeply spurious grounds. You cannot get an injunction for defamation: the saying is "publish, and be damned" for exactly that reason.
Shabana Mahmood’s special advisor threatened us with an injunction and two different lawsuits last night in an attempt to block this story linking her to a notorious vote rigging case. I think it’s strongly in the public interest. So here it is. www.birminghamdispatch.co.uk/exclusive-sh...

This is my favorite climate change chart. Japanese monks, aristocrats, and emperors kept meticulous records of cherry blossom festivals for 1,200 years and accidentally built the world's longest climate dataset.
It is such a relief to have a paper like @manchestermill.bsky.social as our local paper! This story really did worry me (it still does), and having the Mill on it means those of us in the community will have a better understanding of what is going on.
On Friday the story broke that a book banning had occurred in Greater Manchester. Over 130 titles were to be removed from a school library against the wishes of its librarian, but a vital piece of information was missing: the name of the school. Read in full: manchestermill.co.uk/revealed-the...
“I call lichens creatures — because they’re complicated things.” Today’s story is about industrial pollution and climate change, and how a symbiotic creature made of fungi and algae is silently monitoring Sheffield's air quality without any of us knowing about it. ✍️ @bbobillsmothers.bsky.social
