Given the news about the fed's allowing import of beef, I am climbing back on my buy-local soapbox: Today my husband will cook beef, over an open flame, that we bought direct from the rancher and had a local butcher shop cut to our instructions (cuz' we did - buy local, buy from a rancher).

In my home state we had been held hostage by the Freedom Caucus during the last legislative cycle, but that ended with our primary yesterday and the balance has tipped back to the common sense side, thank heavens.
Our local grocery store does a "Hatch Chili" weekend every Aug., where they fresh roast hatch chilies and you can buy 'em by the case if you want. I bought 1/2 case this year and we've been eating so many dishes made with 'em lately: 1/2
