I’ll never forget when I was at Frank & Sons in LA at an mtg table. I was there with my bf and mentioned that I taught HIM how to play. The confused look from the male vendor as he said “no way! I don’t believe that!” then turned to my bf and asked for confirmation. That exchange sits in my brain.

I have been bounced from D&D tables because a boy wanted my slot. I write for Magic the Gathering--the most words of story of any modern author--and carry a custom purse with MtG symbols on it, and I still get asked, in a condescending tone, whether I play.

Fantastic thread on the enshittification of book quality. It’s something I have noticed too. This post is the first time I’ve heard the words that express how I feel about ebooks. I’m very happy that ebooks get more folks to read, but I would much rather have a physical book over a digital one.

Another odd moment occurred when Musk insisted that work in the future would be "optional" because robots would do everything. Musk said people might still work in the future but compared it to people who grow their own backyard tomatoes. He said they could just go to the store for better tomatoes.

Explain your @ Doc is from playing Medic in Battlefield 3. Drazen is from downloading a Star Wars Dark Forces II map on my Grandma's PC as a kid called Drazen's Isle. I thought it was the coolest name ever so I started using it for things and just never stopped.

All of this!! If you are in San Diego, you have access to multiple library systems which can carry different titles on each service. I have 3 library cards for 3 separate library systems! Gotta collect them all!! 😁 At least get a public and county card. I borrow Blu-rays from county all the time.
