Creative. Sherlock Holmes told slant, from an unusual point of view. Michigan-based, software developer and tinkerer, and wannabe tabletop gamer. More soon.

FROM THE PROFESSOR'S DESK: I am informed that modern society requires one to possess an "online presence." Formerly, reputation was acquired by accomplishment. Progress is a curious word.

MORIARTY’S MARGINALIA: The common reader asks whether Sherlock Holmes was good. A childish question. Ask whether he was exact. Ask whether he saw clearly when lesser men made fog of their own sentiment. Goodness is abundant in sermons. Exactitude is rare.

Most first novels die in the middle. Not because the writing is bad, but because nothing turns. Before I drafted a word of Moriarty's Defence of Sherlock Holmes, I wrote a chapter list where every chapter had one required job: the state of the story at the end must not equal the state at the start.
