It took me 5 years to finish my BA, and 8 for my PhD. With work demands, health issues, and in my subject area, I know I’m not alone. And I wasn’t even studying in a second language! DHS is crippling the US in the most inhumane ways possible. We’ve got to stand up for our international students!!

Foreign student visa restrictions to hit Silicon Valley - San José Spotlight

New federal regulations will restrict how long international students can attend U.S. colleges, and schools are scrambling to work through the problem as the fall semester begins.

This is random, but I wanted to extend my gratitude to Democratic Congresswoman Joyce Beatty for her tireless effort in protecting the Kennedy Center from being fully destroyed by a vindictive jealous petty classless criminal. 💙👊

When I visited DC recently, I learned about an invasive species of insect that’s destroying vegetation across Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, & beyond: the #SpottedLanternfly. While pesticides may not be advised in cities, it is highly recommended to SQUASH them upon sight. #FreeDC

Sending my thoughts to everyone affected by the fires in Canada ❤️🤍❤️ I was in Toronto just a week ago, and loved this sculpture of Rabbitwoman & Dogman, “two opposites coming together as best friends and soulmates,” helping to save the white rhino on their tandem bicycle. May we embody their spirit.

Every day of events in the U.S. demonstrates that we do not live in freedom. But this sign, outside the American state fair in DC the day after it closed, gave me a little hope. Freedom is not here, but perhaps there is a detour we can take. A detour we must take. #photo #politics #signs

A photo of a bright orange “DETOUR” sign on the fence lining the Great American State Fair in Washington, DC, the day after the fair closed. The fence is covered in a fabric with a U.S. flag-colored pattern and the detour sign slightly overlaps a circular logo saying “Freedom 250”.

"Immigrants leave behind childhood landscapes, family traditions, and relationships that can't be replaced — often exchanging certainty for the prospect of starting over. Yet people continue to make that journey because migration is ultimately an act of hope." - bilingual educator Silvia Manno

Migration has always been part of Fresno’s story. I know this firsthand | Opinion - AOL

“Even in a city shaped so deeply by immigrants, debates over immigration enforcement show that suspicion of newcomers has not disappeared.”
