Even though tech seems to be in a design-appreciation phase again (first in ~8 years?), I still sense a lower ceiling on salaries because design is seen as ‘non-technical’, which is kind of wild given the incredible amount of nuance, EQ, taste, and craft it takes to be good.

✨ New Work! – Full brand and web design for architectural and product design studio Groth.studio - I worked with Michael Groth to design my retail store Corners, and so of course was excited to help him refresh his studio brand. Very fun collaborating with him as always.
✨🤖 New Work – A visual identity for Antioch; a next-gen robotics simulation platform. Pared-back type gives way to textural collages that explore testing environments and fidelity. I built an app to generate and distort the core mesh component, and built the visuals from there.
Anyone have a good recommendation for a podcast editor/producer? Looking for someone who can attend to the audio clean up/engineering but with an editorial eye. 🙏
I am excited to announce the all new Type Foundry Directory! typefoundry.directory
Most of my time as a designer is spent trying to find typefaces which aren’t technically Helvetica Now but are essentially identical to it.
Anyone have a favorite industrial designer, specifically for consumer electronics? (Currently practicing/hireable)
New Figma features are great, but I feel like I can’t even get type on a curve, but that’s quite possibly just user error I guess?!
Just got my latest batch of ceramics back from the kiln. I normally do wheel based pieces but this was my first time doing hand-builds, was really fun. And is much more practical to do at home/outside the studio.
Faces 1.0 / I developed a new desktop application that generates a unique face every time you click on a pink button. It’s a completely useless yet amazing program. I’ve spent 10 minutes this morning staring at these faces, and I won’t get that time back.
I wish there was a setting that would stop my AirPods from switching device automatically if it’s already actively playing audio on the current device. Drives me nuts.
While I’m not surprised that Georgia O’Keefe had good taste when it came to her houses… god damnnnn…
A friend of mine is hiring for a CD role at their (sprint based) studio, fun opportunity! www.primary.studio/careers/crea...

Oh no. I think I have fallen for this Georg Jensen tea kettle. And yes it is as cheap as it looks.
This is petty but I see them mixed up all the time (NYT email today) and it drives me nuts. ‘out-of-the-box’ means the default; came off the shelf, opened the box and there it is. Ready to use immediately ‘outside of the box’ means to think creatively or unconventionally Almost opposite meanings!
Fun interview here with the PlayLab guys. They were in my orbit when they were in NY, so cool to see them evolve the studio over the (20) years and produce such incredible experiential work. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/h...
Legendary Japanese illustrator Kazuo Hozumi has passed away at the age of 94. Hozumi was the first Japanese menswear illustrator, most famous for his "Ivy Boy" cartoon character. But he had a huge range and was a very stylish guy himself. news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/ec0...
Using Figma as the creators intended; to vet new garage door designs
Absolutely this. I am looking for a creative echo chamber, otherwise known as a positive space full of likeminded people.
The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.
A snowstorm knocked my power out last night, but the store still has power so just making my morning smoothie here instead; although it somehow feels spiritually wrong firing up the vitamix in the middle of the store.
I’ve been working with my local chamber of commerce to develop a sweatshirt to sell as a fundraiser to renovate the local town signage, most in disrepair. I commissioned artist Pablo Delcan for the artwork, and ‘Signs of Life’ was born. livingstonmanorchamberofcommerce.square.site/product/crew...
Twitter me would have written the most scathing tweet about the Jaguar rebrand but Bluesky me is just gonna keep it moving *whistles ambiguous happy melody*
