Just watched #4Corners and see nothing much has changed since my Senate Estimates exchange with the Fair Work Ombudsman in 2016. The FWO uses “ enforceable undertakings” a fancy name for a slap on the wrist instead of taking legal action against employers.
When will sanity, logic and reality be applied by the ALP to the warped fiction of AUKUS. We hand over $Bs to the US and UK military/industrial complex, sacrifice our sovereignty and get treated as mugs. The optimal pathway becomes more flawed and unrealistic by the day!
There is a growing concern about the suppression of debate and alternative views within an increasingly authoritarian top down Labor party that discourages and suppresses debate under the guise of “unity”
The AUKUS public inquiry and the evidence received have blown holes in the “optimal pathway” and exposed the secrecy surrounding this one sided farce of a deal. Conroy desperately trying to convince the public that our sovereignty is intact.
We need an alternative to the sovereignty destroying, secretive, wasteful ,warmongering AUKUS fiasco. Labor must focus on cost of living, climate change, housing, health and education. Threatening Rex Patrick with costs in order to hide plans for a nuclear waste dump stinks!

Albo asserts the National Conference was “purposeful and united”. United in denial of a genocide and purposeful in avoiding debate on AUKUS. This is not democracy in action. It is a denial of reality and a craven act of capitulation to US warmongering and hegemony. Disgusting!
Labor saddles the country with highly enriched nuclear waste makes Australia a nuclear target, cuddles up to Trump, puts militarism before hospitals, abandons our sovereignty, builds public housing for US marines and welcomes US nuclear armed subs and bombers. It is sickening!
Building submarines is the “pride of the nation” says Marles and SA Premier says the scale of the AUKUS investment is equal to 15 hospitals! I’ll take hospitals before submarines any day. Jobs building hospitals, homes, and dealing with global warming better than warmongering!
Marles says he’s “disappointed and it’s unfair” that his US buddies are screwing Australia by increasing tariffs. Such an underwhelming but predictable response from Marles who seems to care more about US submarine jobs than jobs in Australia. When will the ALP wake up to the US?

Denialism abounds in the ALP and Coalition on AUKUS. Surely the ALP caucus and the majority of delegates to National Conference can see why there is lack of courage by Marles to debate AUKUS. AUKUS is highway robbery, a capitulation of sovereignty to militarism and US hegemony.
Marles refuses to face up to reality on the crazy AUKUS deal. Denialism won’t work. Refusing to debate won’t work. Ignoring the facts won’t work. Labelling opponents as “appeasers” won’t work. Shovelling $Bs of our money into a failing and flawed AUKUS disaster won’t work.
There’s a difference between having a good speech writer and delivering for Australians. Not everyone will own their own home, not everyone supports militarism and abandoning our sovereignty, not everyone wants the military industrial complex dominating the manufacturing sector.
Nothing to be debated at the ALP National Conference has the gravity, and implications of the crazy AUKUS deal. Peter Garrett highlights this in his Guardian article. Sacrificing our sovereignty to the USA demands open debate and critical analysis. Avoiding debate is a disgrace!
The tip of the iceberg. As the ALP pours obscene amounts of our money into the military/ industrial complex, grifters, thieves, opportunists and greedy ex politicians queue up to line their pockets. Marles must act decisively and demand the accused faces an open criminal trial.
Peter Khalil can participate in a friendly panel and run his lines but he will not front the AUKUS Public Inquiry where he faces critical analysis, detailed questions and real scrutiny. He should do as former Liberal defence ministers and front up.
Just listened to Peter Khalil MP unsuccessfully regurgitate the AUKUS talking points at a La Trobe Uni seminar. When asked about sacrificing our sovereignty through AUKUS he waffled on incoherently about driving a VW and not having to do what Germany tells him! FFS! 😂 😳🤷♂️
Wow! Howard had control of his “caucus” says an admiring Albo on a forthcoming Kitchen Cabinet. Albo has replicated Howard and “shifted the party to the right” according to Patricia Karvelas. Howard’s downfall was power with no checks and balance from the party room. Familiar?
A “senior left figure” claims “we have lost” on AUKUS and are “flogging a dead horse”. Not surprised the supine, defanged parliamentary left have this defeatist view. Many had the same view on 3rd tier tax cuts ,capital gains tax and negative gearing.We changed that and we won!
It will be “constructive unity, solidarity, progressive patriotism” at the ALP National Conference.🤬 Prearranged outcomes expose the dominance of conservatism, militarism, neoliberalism and compliance in the ALP. Abandoning sovereignty and appeasing the USA comes at great cost!
“Unfair” bleats Tom Koutsantonis 😂 Claims the AUKUS inquiry is an “an activist show trial” and asserts AUKUS has a “democratic mandate”. He should talk to concerned South Australians instead of the Murdoch Press. No nuclear safety or disposal plan, no guarantee on jobs!
In todays AUKUS hearing Christopher Pyne said the AUKUS deal “makes us a stronger and more important and useful ally”. Shows that AUKUS is all about USA imperialism and hegemony not our sovereignty, safety or military capabilities. It’s about how useful we are to the USA.

Peter Garrett says it’s been a very good and instructive morning at the hearing, I agree. The govt must reconsider the implications of AUKUS for peace, security and sovereignty. Instead off attacking opponents as “appeasers” they should reflect on their appeasement of the USA
