I've complained a couple times about the lack of physics community here but not done much about it! New commitment: I'll post one interesting arXiv paper a day until things are better. (To the folks who follow me for non-physics science policy, don't worry; plenty more of that reporting to come.)

Excited to see our work featured by Digital Discovery! Tired of quantum noise ruining your chemistry sims? Our new MREM method brings multireference insight to error mitigation—boosting accuracy for strongly correlated molecules on NISQ hardware. Proud of this collaboration with @rahmlab.bsky.social

Yesterday the Supreme Court issued a convoluted, 36-page emergency order about NIH grant terminations. Two main takeaways: -$2 billion (not the government # of $780 million) in NIH grants will likely be re-terminated -future legal challenges will be much harder w/ @maxkozlov.bsky.social:

US Supreme Court allows NIH to cut $2 billion in research grants

The decision will hinder lawsuits against grant terminations, legal specialists say.

Breaking: NSF is suspending roughly 300 grants with UCLA, following a DOJ finding on Tuesday that the university violated Title VI by "creating a hostile educational environment for Jewish and Israeli students."

It was a pleasure to attend and contribute to this amazing event, share our latest work, and connect with the NQS community. Thanks to the organizers and fellow speakers – amazing discussions all around! Looking forward to more collaboration and open science in the NQS space! #QMC #NQS #OpenScience

The Trump admin wants to cut the NSF's budget by 57%. In terms of directorates, EDU and ENG would see the biggest cuts at 75%, while MPS is looking at a ~67% cut. The proposal also defunds nearly all postdoc programs and slashes the NSF GRFP budget by 55%. More here: cen.acs.org/policy/resea...

The proposed 57% cut will drive down the agency’s funding rate and eliminate training programs
