feel like if i had to rank east teams -right now- with what we know about their rosters going into next season, i'd go: NYK > IND = PHI = TOR > DET > BOS > MIA = CLE with ATL/ORL/WAS in spitting distance behind that eight. but that's eleven decent teams! is the east... good???

how many teams in NBA history have done major blockbuster trades with the team that eliminated them in that year's playoffs? gotta be very few, right? what a wild BOS/PHI trade.
quite bullish about tobias harris as a spur. he only needs to be the 5th or 6th best player on the team, that's an extremely appropriate place for him at this stage of his career. will help san antonio have a useful sized-up look when teams try to go big on them.
i am generally loathe to give rob pelinka credit for anything, but this is a decent roster. luka/grimes/reaves/mamu/kessler with vanderbilt and ayton still hanging around is pretty fun. they certainly don't feel like an OKC-level team, but assuming their top 3 stay healthy that's a good young team.
look, kessler is a good player, and 4/130 seems like a solid contract for him. but he has been pretty injury-prone. four years of draft control feels like an extremely high price, especially with 2030 so far out that they may not even have luka at that point.
BREAKING: The Los Angeles Lakers are acquiring Walker Kessler from the Utah Jazz for unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033 and first-round swaps in 2028 and 2030, sources tell ESPN. Kessler will sign a massive four-year, $130 million deal with the Lakers.
pablo torre rolling up to toronto all like
BREAKING: The Los Angeles Clippers are nearing deal sending Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, 2 first-round picks, 1 pick swap and 2 second-rounders, sources tell ESPN. A return to Canada for the Raptors champion and two-time Finals MVP.
i'm so happy that Bronny James can finally have his own team. unshackled from his father and ready to dominate.
this MIN/CHA trade is kind of fun from this perspective: if both teams suck or both teams are good, the swap rights don't matter all that much. if charlotte remains worse than minny, or they're similarly good, the swaps don't do much. but if minny is -worse- than charlotte at any point... yikes.
that's... a LOT of picks? this is going to be a wild team though.
first thought: "wow, that sucks" second thought, followed by a pit in my stomach: "...wait, that's less money than de'aaron fox's extension, huh"
BREAKING: Trae Young intends to sign a four-year, approximately $212 million deal to stay with the Washington Wizards, with a player option in Year 4, sources tell ESPN. The four-time NBA All-Star declined his $49M player option for a long-term commitment ahead of free agency.
sick as hell in a hotel in australia. turned on the news and there was a story about venus fly traps. i am fully invested, this is so cool??? www.abc.net.au/news/science...
Mechanism that makes Venus flytraps snap uncovered, study claims
Physicists think they have found the cellular mechanism behind a Venus flytrap's signature move, but plant scientists say the mystery isn't solved yet.

i think i felt worse in 2013, but honestly hard to say. there’s basically no historical precedent for a team this young in the finals, but there’s also no precedent for two chokejobs of this magnitude in the finals.
spurs got the knicks on that waffle house hashbrown offense right now — smothered, covered, and scattered
as a society i thought we had evolved beyond the need for hack-a-mitch. clearly this is “mitch-a-hack” behavior by the san antonio coach
san antonio’s transition defenae makes me feel like i am watching an entire team of danny greens on every fast break situation
most important game the spurs franchise have played since 2014 G3. the kids are young but they're ready for this one. GO SPURS GO!
thank GOD kornet is coming off the floor. good minutes this year but you cannot play in the fourth here
the 2026 spurs are so fun that they brought an old dad out of writing retirement to scribble a few words about a fun team. what a cool group of guys we've got here. gothicginobili.com/10000.html

man The Last Bobcat is a blog name that goes insanely hard
Bismack Biyombo is the last Charlotte Bobcat, we need to get this man a title
the stats don’t really back it up, but to me it usually feels like wemby shoots significantly cleaner threes from a few feet behind the line than right on the line. better sightline or something for him.
hasn’t specifically led to a turnover yet but a little bit of butterfingers action for vassell. feels like the only indication of any nerves from anyone on sam antonio lol
carter bryant is simply too young to commit a flagrant foul, he is just 7 months old
every team should get to give daryl morey a wedgie for the jared mccain trade. sorry, daryl.
update: whistles have gone from baffling to absolutely infuriating, what the actual fuck was the last few minutes of action???
the whistle has been baffling but that’s not why the spurs are down, they’re getting to the line on some BS too. their offense has just been incredibly stilted and bad outside of a hot champagnie game. tentative, scared to get in the teeth of the D. gotta change if they want a W.

the knicks played so well that adam silver is going to release a firmly worded statement chastising the cavs for tanking
it's wild that mitchell has 26 points already and the cavs are still going out sad like this. just a pathetic performance.
