Dog & Wolf Press

Sideways fantasy and cozy horror from the hour between dog and wolf — when you can't tell the tame thing from the wild one. A press in the making; for now, notes from the workbench. Night is falling.

Just doing day job things over on LI and watching that platform descend into psychosis about an image of the acknowledgements page from Lucy Foley’s “The Hunting Party” in which she prominently thanks AI. She’s thanking her husband Alistair, aka A(lowercase L)l. THE ENGAGEMENT IS EARNEST.

Screenshot of Lucy Foley’s acknowledgement page from The Hunting Party, where she’s DEFINITELY thanking A.I. and not her husband Al for going on long walks in the snow with her + very serious LI commentary about said acknowledgment.

You can’t scream (even affectionately) at the woman who wrote Goodnight, Moon or The Whispering Rabbit. But boy did Margaret Wise Brown need someone to tell her she was allowed to write what she wanted to write. (Or maybe not. She did publish 70+ books.)

Desperately seeking an invite to Margaret Wise Brown’s Birdbrain Club. Entry requirements include “a high degree of forgetfulness, an intense curiosity, or, at the very least, a short attention span.” Check, check, check.
