I just heard from a granddaughter that she found her grandparent's album from stumbling on it in a facebook group for making fun of bad album covers and she told me the comments broke her heart. I try to keep this in mind whenever I stumble on music I don't care for. Each album is someone's dream.

Here's a mini timeline of psycho versions for you. The first known recording of it is a Leon Payne demo on reel, presumably from 1968. digi.countrymusichalloffame.org/digital/coll...

I'm listening to so many versions of Psycho today before my presentation. They really run the gamut. @ttexed.bsky.social's version has a criminally low view count on youtube if you ask me. I just gave it it's 420th listen. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vlbn...

I see "Vinyl Mix" or "All Vinyl" online as a genre of dj sets and mixes. Non-vinyl mixes will say "ambient" or "house music" or whatever. It's kind of interesting that Vinyl has become a genre of music. That's like telling someone the sort of reading you do is "books."
Come see the Dollar Country Documentary in Austin this Sunday! At the Hyperreal Film Club presented by End Of An Ear. I've heard that it's a smallish theater and people seem very stoked so I'd recommend grabbing tickets before hand just in case. hyperrealfilm.club/events/8-2/t...

Howdy folks, here's a small peek into one of the many things that needs done in the world of Dollar Country. In this video your friendly archivist files records away. Each 45 is filed into an alphabetized box. This is a process is done once a month or every other month. youtu.be/Ssl9lMGvL98?...

I just made a record filing ASMR video. I'll put it up on youtube soon. It seems like the sort of thing I'd like to have on in the background when I'm working, so maybe someone might enjoy it.
Someone made an order for something and I hadn't sent it in the time they felt was appropriate. I got an email saying that I should get my shit together, and I honestly agree with them. I've been trying to get my shit together for 40 years!

In honor of the passing of one of my favorite actors, Sam Neill, I'll make a thread of just some of the movies he's in that I would recommend seeing before you pass on. Hit me with your suggestions too.
I had always heard about how difficult it was to find daycare, but until we had a kid it really wasn't shown to me just what it's like. Even for folks that would be seen as financially secure by most metrics, finding child care can be hard to find and hard to pay for. We waited for months on a list.
I did a big sale this week and sold 35 different orders consisting of a few hundreds records, tapes, and books. In the end I grossed about 3/4 of the cost of one month of our fairly inexpensive day care. Net was probably more like 1/3-1/2 the cost. One single month of day are cost.

This got me thinking about a collection of 5000+ LPs I looked at when I first got to Cleveland. It was probably 70% polka records. They were all stacked on top of each other on a tarp on a garage floor in an 8x8 grid. Most were hard to see, the ones in the middle were inaccessible.
At the end of the day your collection is really only important to you. My family have told me it’s all going when I go, not meant in a negative way but they really don’t care about it.
