It's a good thing no one witnessed the irrational and disproportional temper tantrum I just threw over a 1:1000 freak spillage of middling bourbon, but boy have I got some sentences down in my notebook to use for later. This is not a brag; more like "I'm gonna make lemonade now." 😐

I'm all for shooting your shot, but for the love of christ, don't email a business asking them to pass your contact information to a client because you vibed with them at the bar last night.

“I’m sick of horror that’s really about trauma” is such a tiresome lazy take, please find me a single horror story in the history of the human fucking species that isn’t ultimately about trauma in some form or fashion

Random thought of the day: If in 2026, someone like Pacino's character in SCENT OF A WOMAN said something like, "If I were the man I was five years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place!" people would've been like, "Blind vet or not, I'm calling the cops!" and I'm not sure that's a bad thing...

Spotted a dapper elder in a sport coat and shorts, rocking a look I don't believe I've seen since... I dunno, 1985? Even more interesting, it's not like he was wearing an 80s coat and 80s shorts. He looked like he could've bought them at Macy's a couple years ago.

i’ve seen some interesting oulipo/cutup work based on the opposite approach—composing poetry out of words mulched from press releases, vapid tech booster “journalism”, arrest reports, the glory of humanity is that we can make even *this* beautiful

In the Renaissance people theorized, since the Aeneid is great, if you wrote poems made only of words & phrases from the Aeneid rearranged they should be great too, since a great source regurgitated should yield greatness. They produced NOTHING we still read. Thinking about that a lot lately.

I think I've finally learned how to hold a grudge without needing to be angry, and NGL it's kind of liberating, really. 🤣

I'm not necessarily recommending THE END OF OAK STREET (2026), but I will say it wasn't the worst way to cap off a Saturday.

Eavesdropping on a conversation in which this uncle is crowing about how much fun it was to use AI to plan a vacation. Usually, I have to actually *get to work* before starting off a day this depressed.
