Actually Doof

Teaching myself to draw through doodles. I sometimes draw naked people, so 18+ only. 🔞

Doodle No. 215 I had a specific idea for today's doodle, which underwent an identity crisis (twice) by the time the woman was done. After that I decided to use the rest of the space to practice drawing shoulders, a piece of anatomy I care inordinately about.

Doodle No. 211 Wanted to work on blocking and consistency today, but found myself chafing against the size of my sketchbook. It may be time to opt for something larger, though I'm partial to a hobby I can carry in my pocket.

Doodle No. 206 I drew and redrew her left hand so many times, I got frustrated and decided to make her an amputee. I think the hook came out well, however, so if I drew her again I'd definitely keep it. Her bare feet were a struggle too, but one thing at a time.

Doodle No. 204 Punk's not dead. This started as a form study, then turned into an attempt to draw loose, slightly bulky clothing (most of my outfits still hug the body); then I decided to add a tattoo, and the rest of the design choices flowed from there.

Doodle No. 203 Your friendly neighborhood bog witch. She uses parasitic fungi to reanimate the dead and brews tea from herbs that grow in graveyards. She has one of those "Cut here" tattoos around her neck. If she dies, so long as her head is recovered, she can be revived.

Doodle No. 202 Trying my hand at a rudimentary character sheet with different angles and expressions, trying to find the simple shapes that make a character recognizable. Swapping to a (more) cartoony style, I felt compelled to make his mustache bigger as his primary means of self-expression.

Doodle No. 200 Beach episode! The perspective's a bit wonky on this one; the ones in the back came out great, but the tower climber and frog girl were trickier to include (and I had to draw and redraw the latter multiple times). Not my best work, but fun to draw to celebrate a major milestone.

Doodle No. 193 #Wizardry I bought the Wizardry remake on sale and was amused by the villain living at the bottom of a giant hole in the middle of town. I'm aware he made the hole himself, but this comic still came unbidden to my mind. That's the same underpaid sentry from Doodle No. 37.

Doodle No. 192 The daughter of a local perfume merchant. Her father's attempts to marry her off have all been thwarted by her talent for mischief. She refuses to marry any man who cannot laugh at himself.

Doodle No. 189 #BruceLee "Empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless, like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup; you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle; you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow, or it can crash. Be water, my friend."
