I was betrayed by Costco peaches! Last week, delicious and juicy, so I bought 2 more boxes. This week... mealy and gross. Betrayed!
I've started a "hack on while traveling" project of trying to build a video game with @godotengine.org . I'm sure the scope is WAY to expansive for my total lack of game building experience, but it's been fun to do a different type of development and a good way to play with Fable.
Started reading Dungeon Crawler Carl this weekend. I get why everyone is in enjoying it so much.
It's summer, so my dad brain is always thinking about the next time I need to mow the lawn. It isn't stressful. It's just always there.
This week I showed my kids Mariners Revenge Song by The Decemberists, pausing throughout the song to explain all the plot points. Age appropriate? 🤷 But my 4 year old keeps asking for the "whale song" over and over now! 🐳
I have become a total bandwagon soccer fan during the World Cup. I know NOTHING about soccer outside of watching my 9 year old play a lot of games but I've really been having fun following World Cup things this year. ⚽
After picking up a replacement power cable for my 2012 MBA I just resetup Omarchy on it. I don't think I'll every be a Linux power user, but there's something about a computer that has less of an "agenda" that is just refreshing these days.
One minute you're trying to figure out what bars are still open at 2am, the next you're gardening while listening to podcasts. And it's awesome.
Aaaaand I just spent a bunch of time today composing original background music for my kid's talent show video. Which, I'm sure, was absolutely necessary.
Doing a little spring cleaning and taking a look at my recurring subscriptions. I'm not sure I want to know how much I'm spending on domains every year...

Because I'm currently on-call I have the sound up on my phone (normally totally silent). This thing makes weird noises all the time!
My episode of @overcommitted.dev just came out! I had a blast talking to @brittanyellich.com about mentoring, working in a way that makes you happy, and probably AI (because everything is about AI now, right?). Check it out: overcommitted.dev/run-toward-s...

"if you're just talking to chatbots to get answers, you're looking at question answering in too utilitarian of a way" @dorkrawk.bsky.social on why ai tools can't replace actually talking to your coworkers. episode just released this week!
Last week the urge to find a new video game overtook me. I landed on Cult of the Lamb and I'm almost disturbed by how much I'm enjoying it.
Eileen: "I'm going to make chicken soup tonight. Can you get it started by boiling the chicken in water, chop up some veggies, add them, and then season it?" Me: "You're not making soup! You're trying to vibe cook soup!"
I prefer my coffee shop coffee in a paper cup rather than my own reusable mug. I know this makes me a bad person, but there's nothing I can do about it. ☕
Coding agents are pretty great for projects where my first assessment is that they'd be more trouble than they're worth.

Ok! Next week I'm going to teach a bunch of elementary school kids about binary numbers and Boolean operators!
Starting to collect training data for a squirrel scaring program I put together this morning. If it works, it should blare metal super loud whenever a squirrel gets on to our bird feeder. 🐿️🤘
New keyboard day! I’m excited to feel like I’ve forgotten how to type!
I recently migrated the blog on my site over to Postwave (a blogging library I wrote). It's really nice to use a tool that works EXACTLY the way you want it to! dinosaurseateverybody.com/blog/powered...
