“I can say confidently that I am prepared to start the five-signature memo process so that we can at least start with an appraisal of TAMKO in Joppa,” Bazaldua said, “which is the very first step for us to be able to revisit the non-conforming use of that property.”
Our goal of the Toxic Twins Campaign: Fund the Fund is the amortization of GAF and TAMKO, two asphalt shingle manufacturing plants located in the West Dallas and Joppa neighborhoods. These facilities are identified as major polluters in communities experiencing significant environmental harm.

Some Dallas history: in 2011-2013, DAR helped write one of TX's strictest gas drilling ordinances that the City passed. Search "Dallas Gas Drilling" and you'll find numerous news articles about it! This protected homes, churches, and other community areas from being next to gas drilling.
