When a non-American asks me "what's football/soccer like in the USA?" I like to respond with "The historic club I supported/worked at went out of business so we started an amateur phoenix club & the next fall we had a match where the opposing starting forward used to be a NFL All-Pro Wide Receiver"

Starting in February and ending in late November with a summer break is basically the same as doing Fall-Spring with a winter break like the Super League was doing.

The stadium in Queens will help NYCFC for sure, but both of the MLS NY area teams will always be handicapped in some way as long as they are satellite brands for an overseas club/entity. Neither has an identity befitting one of, if not the, greatest and proudest city on the planet.

It’s holding a lantern, for being spooky, and a knife (for ending your life).
