More bugs! I mounted the giant longhorn with goldenrod which I may end up keeping. And I have a cicada and more beetles pinned and drying. Can't seem to get the rhino beetle fully rehydrated though, so it may have to be pinned as is. Again, all bugs were found already deceased.

This is never getting finished. I returned to it after a long break and after laying down some color, my fear of losing detail came true. I tested the colors first and thought the black for the crows and gray trees wouldn't be too dark but i was wrong. I was so excited for this piece and I ruined it

For all I do despite my health, it seems it's still too much to ask to be appreciated by my family just one day of the year. And where are all the friends I've helped out with money and stuff in the past? Don't know why I expect anything different, though. It's the same every year.

If you're gonna be arrogant and rudely shut me down when I tell you where a thing is, then waste my energy "helping" you look for it, I will have the satisfaction of wasting yours too. It's hilarious watching a grown man have a total meltdown for a whole hour while giving him the silence he wants.

I regrettably have no pictures because I was busy. But today I saw a melanistic mourning dove! It was a solid chocolate color. Adding it to my list of shinies seen in the wild! So far, I have also seen a black bobcat and coyote, and a melanistic whitetail that was also a dark brown like the dove.

Glue didn't work but my jewelry cutters thankfully did. Had 3 screws like that. It was a pain, but at last I am done. It's so nice having a working keyboard again! I put a new charging jack in too. Old one was loose and began getting super hot. I was worried about a fire or something overheating.

Replacing my keyboard, as it's slowly been failing and using the on-screen keyboard gets old fast. But the very first thing to remove besides the battery is the hard drive, and the screwhead stripped with my tiniest screw driver. Hope the super glue trick works, or I'm SoL. I hate repairing laptops.

New month, new hobby. Trying flower pressing to decorate pinned bugs, using mostly flowers I grew myself. I found some shadow boxes for displaying them, too. This whole project has been an experiment that needs loads of improvement, but I'm eager to keep working at it!

A Banded Sphinx Moth (Eumorpha fasciatus) with Four-o-clock flowers, which this moth species visits nightly during the summers here. This is my first pinned specimen. Although its wing was already slightly smudged when found, I sadly damaged it more in handling. Despite the flaws, however, I like it. It shall live in my room.BildEastern Carpenter Bee (Xylocopa virginica) and an absolute giant of a ground beetle (I think; can't find an ID) are currently drying to be displayed later. Like with the moth, these were found already deceased. An assortment of flowers grown by me, plus fox grape vines.

A crazy few weeks these have been. Hoping to catch a break, especially after today's developments. But in between, I did a little designing and now have Onika's corrupt form (on right). I drew a horse from my own photo and used s3venday's brush on DA for the person so you get an idea of the scale...

Still waiting to get more of our stuff back. Got tips about another guy who reportedly has a bunch that he's still trying to sell. Think we need to pay him a visit too...later. At the worst possible time, our fridge and freezer quit so we're scrambling to save our food now. I'm about to go hulk mode

Follow-up on the theft. Meet "Weasel" Franklin, one of a few people who planned to break into our cabin after they had already stolen from our shed. It was clear from the evidence that they intended to return that night. Too bad for them we already found this dumb f*©k and...

Story and pics tomorrow when I've given more info to police. But here's a PSA for you: if you think you can break into my place, you are an absolute joke. My family and I have a really good track record for finding people. As one terrified sneak discovered tonight, you will be found. You will pay.

I know I keep jumping around. But I have always been fascinated with bug pinning. Until finding a video just recently, however, I never knew preserving bugs was so easy and straightforward. I found this freshly-dead Banded Sphinx Moth today and thought it would make a cool first specimen! Anyone...
