I reject the premise. Other than the security theatre, air travel is so much better than it was. Airports have amenities. Planes are safer and more comfortable. Price is orders of magnitude lower. We used to have smoking sections on the plane.

What's bizarre about the McConnell situation is that it's clear that somehow both parties have gamed it out and concluded that they most benefit from Undead Senator Who Can't Vote But Can't Be Replaced.
What's interesting to me is how different the theme of the story feels now versus when it was written. Then it was a warning about the horrors of nuclear war. Now it feels a lot more about the hollowness of AI.

I loved Nolan's Odyssey. I loved Emily Wilson's translation of the Odyssey. But I especially love this new era of posting. Also, the best reinterpretation of the Iliad and the Odyssey for the modern era is Omeros.
