Really pleased to share the comic by the fantastic @karriefransman.bsky.social on Sex Work and AIDS Activism in Edinburgh. Research by me and based on an oral history interview with Ruth Morgan Thomas of Scot-PEP.
It's been incredibly rewarding working with Aysha Haddington-Ahmed and Elizabeth Evens on this comic about clinical staff working in healthcare with patients that have experienced sexual violence. The comic explores the barriers that both patients and staff may face in addressing these issues. 1/3
Another fabulous comic to come from research presented at our 2025 workshop, 'Sexual Health: Past, Present and Future', and developed with funding from the @ukri.org FLF project 'Histories of #SexualHealth in Britain'. Love the anthropomorphised spirochaete 🪱♥️
Thanks @dannija-yes.bsky.social @claireplmartin.bsky.social @drannehanley.bsky.social for the collaboration and support. Hey, fellow artists: @jordancollver.bsky.social @streakofpith.bsky.social @zaraslattery.bsky.social @mereida.bsky.social @daniellocke.bsky.social @karriefransman.bsky.social
Genuinely thrilled to have collaborated with the amazing Zara Slattery on this comic based my research on sexual health and cultural value. Huge thanks to @drannehanley.bsky.social and @claireplmartin.bsky.social for facilitating it, and to @leverhulme.ac.uk for funding the underlying research.

I've just been given the go-ahead to share the new comic I made with @jgarciaiglesias.bsky.social about his research! "What Does HIV Mean?" 1/2
It was an honour working on this and @claireplmartin.bsky.social @drannehanley.bsky.social from the Histories of Sexual Health in Britain 1918-1980 project at Uni of Birmingham @ukri.org have put together a wonderful bunch of comic collabs about other subjects as well, so stay tuned for those. 2/2

Hello Bluesky! I’m a historian of sexuality, currently working with @drannehanley.bsky.social on the history of #sexualhealth in Britain, 1918-1980. Finally left the hellsite, and looking forward to (re)connecting with people on here!
Looking for recommendations for memoirs that deal with health and gender (and/or sexuality, disability) that have come out in last couple of years. Updating my masters class syllabus (session/assessment on health narratives) so please let me know if you’ve read a good one recently! #histmed #medhums
