Let the writing retreat begin! Women of Organizational Behavior, Malibu is ready for you! 🫶🏼
Bobbi Thomason
@drbobbithomason.bsky.social
Management Professor. Girl Mom. Hoping to be a surfer when I grow up.
2025 was supposed to be the year I wrote a book about women’s agency…& it still will be… But it will also be the year my city faced an unprecedented natural disaster, my daughter & I were displaced for 7 (& counting) weeks & I ended up back in the twilight zone of family court & custody litigation
I just received an email from my child’s school district reminding families that we are a safe haven district. I am grateful for that fact and for our school leadership. But I am horrified that email needed to be written in the first place.
Just got this email from @florenceproject.bsky.social -DOJ ordered them to stop legal orientation projects, including “Know Your Rights” presentations. Removing ambiguity & gaining info is the foundation of agency. When our govt doesn’t want ppl to have info, they don’t want ppl to have agency.
My daughter and I have evacuated and we are safe. I am so deeply touched by the fierce and relentless outpouring of love, care and support that has been coming to my little family specifically and to Los Angeles more broadly. Thank you.
Reading together at the beach is peak Thomason family merry. ✨ (While I do tend to read with a pen, reading with a book manuscript deadline does mean more sticky notes than usual. 😂) However you and yours do merry and happy, we’re wishing you lots of it. ❤️🩷🤍
And the fact that there’s essentially a go-to firm for smearing and silencing women… I was just shaking by the time I finished that NYT article.
In the category of things that stun me even though I intellectually know they are predictable: The backlash Blake Lively faced after accusing Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment & claiming the creative upper hand on the movie.
"messy exit" is definitely one way to say "the result of a targeted campaign of racial harassment."
Splashy Hires and Messy Exits in 2024 Some institutions hired away well-known sitting presidents, while others saw their leaders leave amid difficult and dramatic circumstances. #HigherEd #EDUSky #AcademicSky bit.ly/4fzefG0
Oh, the joy of submitting a manuscript, knowing it’s off your plate for a beat 👩🍳💋👌🏼
I shouldn’t be surprised anymore. But I’m still stunned every time as our country under Trump 2.0 stories keep flooding my social media.
Wow. Good thing I already resigned, or I'd have to do it now. At LA Times, now have to submit editorials to owner in advance, and also "balance" anti Trump pieces w/ other side. LA Times owner tells editorial board to take a break from writing about Trump @ElombahNews news.band/la-times-own...
Shame shifted.
Gisèle Pelicot stood with her head held high in a courtroom in Avignon, France, on Thursday as the verdicts in the four-month rape trial of her ex-husband and 50 other men were read. Her image has become a symbol of female strength around the world, our critic writes. Read more: nyti.ms/49MwR3U
Thrilled about the possibility that @bsky.app can be about individuals positively shaping the structures (yes, even a virtual one) they inhabit. 🤞🏼 this comes to fruition 🤞🏼
Yes. This experiment will work if you make it your own. Customize your experience, build new ones, make a social network that can be controlled by the people who use it an idea we do not go back on.
How have I been a gender scholar for so long and today years old when I just saw Wicked for the first time??? Omg. Obsessed. 💚💚💚
Did you know BlueSky only has 20 employees? We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to those 20 warriors (who are working 24/7 to keep up with the incredible growth) for giving us a space to share. We escaped hell to be here. Thank you, @bsky.app & Jay Graber CEO (not a billionaire)
Thanks for amplifying, @bobsutton.net !! The community within WOB (Women of Organizational Behavior) is a consistent cup-filler in my life. I hope folks enjoy getting to know them as much as I have. And a million thank yous to @decelles.bsky.social for organizing us a group all those years ago 🫶🏼
Women of Organizational Behavior! I found it useful for finding intriguing new scholars and others I have long admired including @drbobbithomason.bsky.social and my wonderful friend and department chair @phinds.bsky.social go.bsky.app/UmYWgUw
When my close friends and I invite each other over, we regularly send some version of a "When you see my living room, remember my not cleaning for you is my way of saying you're a real friend!" text. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

Hey Brand new Besties! I've got some good news to share. I'm writing a book!! And, I would be so grateful for your ideas as I begin writing 🙏
"It's about love. It's a loving department. And a loving school."
It really is so lovely here. Wild what happens when a woman’s in charge.
Several years ago, my daughter spotted a pink Christmas tree displayed in a shop window (ok, ok, maybe sometimes Malibu is what you’d imagine …) and a few days later, we were assembling a highlighter-hued monstrosity in our living room.
Hey bluesky! So glad - and hopeful! - to be here. I’m a business school professor, girl mom and aspiring surfer. I post most about how individuals overcome inequalities and navigate their careers. We're setting up roots to stay here, right? 🤞
