My photo collection is getting increasingly entertaining. My book has been showing up on college campuses, on presidents’ desks, at cabinet and board retreats, in fun vacation spots, book clubs…and, yes, even in a chicken coop. 🐓 Apparently, my book gets out almost as much as I do!

Even a glass that's half full needs a refill now and then. From July 1–14, the Glass Half Full Consulting team will be out of office and embracing all the best parts of summer, including a trip to the Obama Presidential Center!! Until then, we hope you're filling your own glass this summer!

I've received evaluations, feedback, emails, texts, comments, and handwritten notes. But there is something delightfully surreal about knowing that someone I've never met bought my book, read it, and decided it was worth taking a few mins to leave a review Thank you, kind reader! You made my day.

There’s a lot of uncertainty right now, especially when it comes to AI. Not because leaders aren’t capable, but because the pace of change is outpacing the structures designed to guide it. The real challenge is earning how to lead through it. Appreciate this perspective from Edward Martinez.

We talk a lot about culture in higher ed. But culture isn’t built in strategic plans, retreats or big initiatives. It’s built in the quick check-in, the quiet support, the note that says “I saw what you did.” I wrote about the invisible infrastructure of trust and why it matters right now.

by Claire L Brady, EdD I came across a poem recently—”Small Kindnesses” by Danusha Laméris—and it stayed with me longer than most things do. Not because it was groundbreaking. But because it was…

Tools matter—but they don’t replace the human work at the core of higher ed. Appreciate this perspective from Dr. Beth Lesen. So many people are being asked to move quickly with AI, but this is the balance that matters most—staying grounded in the people, the mission, and the work behind it all.

Movement is not the same thing as strategy. A values-led AI strategy means: • Your mission drives the technology. • People are part of the process. • Success is measured by more than efficiency. The goal isn't to adopt AI faster. It's to adopt it more intentionally.

Higher ed is under pressure to “move fast” on AI. But speed without intentional leadership can create more risk than readiness. Intentional AI leadership is: -Leading with purpose, not pressure -Building trust before transformation -Treating AI as a leadership imperative, not just an IT initiative.
