There's a tension when looking at problematic things in the past. I do think that there's value at looking at things from the perspective of their time. Uncle Tom's Cabin feels very racist looking at it from our time. In its time, however, it was one of the foremost anti-racist books. 1/

My kitten does not understand why I will not let her sit in front of the TV and jump up at the moving things on the screen. However, if I do not break her of this habit, I do not think it will end well when she is bigger and has more mass.

I'm getting really tired of powerscalers treating every story like it should be solved through spreadsheets. It doesn't matter who you think is stronger, the writer is the one who decides who gets to win, based on what makes the best story.
