We need to talk more about age limits in government service, from Congress to the Supreme Court. These are people with generous pensions. At some point, they need to know when it’s time to go. Too many refuse. Maybe it’s time to make it law.

Patriot Front came out of their moms’ basements, dusted off the Old Navy khakis, put on the white masks so they don’t get fired from their day jobs, and headed to Washington for America’s 250th birthday celebration. Four hundred self-described patriots, not one ounce of bravery.

The reason why it is essential to read IN BULK when studying history is not simply to amass empirical knowledge—though that is important, too, of course—but because *interpretation* requires thick contextual awareness, and there is NO SHORTCUT for building that up that awareness.

People are definitely going to die during tomorrow's July 4th festivities in DC. It will be infuriating and sad to hear what Trump's explanation for those deaths is going to be on July 5th, so it's important to remember that these citizens' deaths were both predictable and entirely avoidable.
