Now on to Sulaiman Addonia's most recent work, The Seers. Addonia is a singular writer, a refugee author like no other. His best is probably Silence is My Mother Tongue, but I'm excited for this. A writer of great sensuality, even (literary) erotica, this book is a single 136 page paragraph ....

Finished Menestu's 4th and most recent novel, Someone Like Us. Recurring interests in exile and migration of course, Mengestu himself a refugee. Deliberately disorienting narrative structure which can be patchy, clear influence of DeLillo. His best is still All Our Names, but this is important work.

Fast becoming my favourite novelist. Gurnah's prose is rhythmic and intoxicating, very deliberately at odds with his stories. He writes poetically about multiform cruelties and squalor both material and ethical. Another great global British author.

A truly remarkable novel by Mengestu, All Our Names, possibly his best. He is a rising star in US fiction, and with Gurnah perhaps one of the most acclaimed refugee authors writing today. If you are yet to try, start with this.
