Altitude illness is potentially life threatening; however, it is preventable and manageable with adequate pre-travel planning and preparation. How should doctors advise patients?

We request people who have plans to visit high altitude areas (like trekkers and pilgrims) to consult medical doctors prior to travel, for advice regarding risk of altitude illness in the planned travel and preventive measures.

The largest typhoid treatment trial till date, with an important message to clinicians in South Asia regarding antimicrobial stewardship in typhoid treatment: Please do not use unnecessary combination antibiotics for typhoid or AUFI. Azithromycin alone is effective.
