Today was the last day of the planting trees campaign in the West Bank, with human rights NGO, Rabbis for Human Rights. During the campaign, we helped Palestinian farmers access their land, access often denied by settlers and IDF, and plant trees to support their livelihood.

#Palestine Today I was meant to join Rabbis for Human Rights for their end-of-harvest event in the occupied West Bank. We were supposed to support Palestinian farmers in selling their goods and securing a bit of their livelihood that is constantly under threat. 🧵🧵
Now at a check point in the Occupied West Bank: Protesting against State sanctioned settlers' violence, and against Israeli apartheid.
"This passport holder acts and believes in peace between an independent Palestinian state and the State of Israel" and is currently listening to the Supremes.

Arriving in Nablus to help our Palestinian friends harvest their olive trees. The harvest season is a busy one. #FreePalestine
Yesterday I ushered at a film festival in Tel Aviv dedicated to Palestinian cinema. At the post-screening panel, Gramsci the dog climbed on the stage to ask the filmmakers for a bellyrub. 💕
Today we harvested many olive trees in Ramallah. Wothout Israeli and international volunteers, the Palestinian farmers are prohibited from harvesting their own orchards. This is their livelihood, and we stand in solidarity with them. #IsraeliOccupation
On the way to Harvest olives in Ramallah, the Occupied West Bank, to hepp farmers with the olive harvest. Hopefully the IDF and the settlers won't come to arrest us. Meanwhile, I hate to brag but im the bus captain. 🙂
In bed with an ear infection, worrying I won't be able to hear my students tomorrow, and looked after by "ears visible-from-space" Bono.
Yesterday, I joined a human rights group in Ramallah, the Occupied West Bank, to help Palestinian farmers harvest their olive trees. Then settlers arrived with guns, backed by the IDF, threatened us, and forced us out of the orchard. Violence is surging in the West Bank.
I'm looking for a pseudonym, for a purpose I can't reveal. I'm thinking: Atila Bau. Much cooler than my regular name.
Planted olive trees today in Betlehem, the Occupied West Bank, to support the Palestinian farmers and in solidarity with the communities who suffer constant attacks by settlers and the IDF. #FreePalestine #StopArmingIsrael

Huge thanks to the JJ Society of NY, Sam Slote @samslote.bsky.social and Jonathan Goldman @jonnysemicolon.bsky.social , and for everyone who joined. It was a blast! For those who missed it, at least you were spared my squeaky voice, made even more unbearable by technology.

This morning in Nablus, the Occupied West Bank, we stood in solidarity with Palestinian farmers, planting olive trees—a symbol of resilience and deep-rooted connection to the land. Suffering violence by criminal settlers, their endurance is a reminder of the urgent need for justice and solidarity.
My book, Guilt and Finnegans Wake, is officially out today with Florida Press. We're having an online launch with @joycesociety.bsky.social on March 4, at 12 pm EST. I wrote a poem to entice you to attend. Maybe you already read it on Facebook. Here it is now:
A question to my Joycean/Modernist colleagues: when H.G. Wells say that "Like Swift and another living Irish writer, Mr. Joyce has a cloacal obsession", who is the other "living Irish writer"? Apologies if the answer is obvious and I am exposing my ignorance. #JamesJoyce
In Hebron, the Occupied West Bank, joining the Palestinian farmers in planting trees. Solidarity with the Palestinian communities who suffer brutal attacks by criminal Jewish settlers. #FreePalestine
Guilt, Glory, and Guinness: A Poem Guilt lingers, thick as foam. Glory flares, too bright to hold. Guinness swirls, velvet-smooth, a liquid hug, the soul to soothe. Three Gs - two in the book, one in the glass I took.
@drtaliaabu.bsky.social 's Guilt and Finnegans Wake has just arrived!
