Under some threat due to @lincolnshirecc.bsky.social’s intention to stop maintaining it, Lincoln’s Ellis Windmill magnificent in the July setting sun. It’s such an essential part of Lincoln’s landscape. Would be a terrible loss.

PARADOX by Jessie B Rittenhouse I went out to the woods to-day To hide away from you, From you a thousand miles away— But you came, too. And yet the old dull thought would stay, And all my heart benumb— If you were but a mile away You would not come.
Midsummer sun still present. The light remains, even after 9pm. Ellis Windmill, Lincoln.
Late May haze. Lincoln’s windmill unmoved in the still heat.
My last evening in Glastonbury for a while. I will miss it.

Such a great event last night in Lincoln with Lindum Books, superbly chaired by @drtimrideout.bsky.social! Really enjoyed hearing people's stories about family members in Bomber Command, and humbled as ever that anyone at all would come out to hear me talk about the book!

APRIL SUN AND SHOWERS I am in my childhood home’s kitchen editing an article for future publication. To the accompaniment of Radio 3 the sun shines, the rain gently falls, tea is drunk, and Sunday passes peacefully. My back garden needs work, but it will wait. Time enough to let nature roam.
GLASTONBURY by George Wingfield ‘Few would guess that a small market town in Somerset was once considered the holiest ground in England…’ An excellent beginner’s guide to the ‘numinous and magical power of Glastonbury, ancient Isle of Avalon.’ A place I am very proud to call my home.
Early evening in April. Walking from Glastonbury to Street. Views of a sunlit Tor.
