Well, the eclipse didn’t get any better round these parts. I remember the 1999 one being excellent, but this was a weak *tribute eclipse*. Disappointing and irritating. Like going to see Queen with Alan Carr on vocals and some random Traffic Warden on bass. 🎼☹️🎼

Couldn’t get over the size of Jimmy Nail’s tour bus last night. (Similar to the one I the photo.) There was only him and a piano player on stage plus a tour manager and merch guy. These days most folks would do it in a mid-size SUV or small splitter van. Only the best for Jimmy!

Watching Bob Dylan on Sky Arts playing the Newport Folk Festival in his early-ish career. I’ve never been a fan but many of the artistes I listen to certainly are. Ian Hunter, Willie Nile, Brice Springsteen and many more. I don’t dislike BD. Just never felt the need to dive in. I saw him live once.

Having a cup of coffee and a fruit scone at a local cafe. They gave me a new loyalty card. The last one was “Buy 6 hot drinks and get the 7th one Free!” The new one is “Buy 8 hot drinks and get the 9th one Free!” A clear indication that the end is nigh…

1/2 Very sad to hear about the death of Glen Hansard. I was addicted to motorcycles between the ages of 15-19 and drove at frankly ludicrous speeds around the roads of central Scotland. My dear, late mother later told me she never slept at night until she heard the bike arriving home. Often at 4am.

After an absence of around 20 years, I’m returning to my local Council run gym. Hopefully the music won’t be so loud this time. It was like a feckin’ rave the last few times I went. Today is “Induction Day”. I have no idea if this notion will last. See y’all later…maybe…

Cracking day for a visit to the once abandoned and derelict Monteith Mausoleum near Jedburgh. It’s changed a lot since my last visit in 2012 but the volunteers who renovated have done a great job. Well worth a visit.

There have been many books written about the music business and I own some of them. This one arrived the other day and I’m quite enjoying it. It further reinforces the fact that “It’s a shit business”. Personally I love music but have steered clear of the “music business”.

Today’s vinyl delivery is “Author! Author!” by Edinburgh’s SCARS from 1981. Near mint. Still in shrink rap (albeit opened) with booklet. I saw them twice in 1979/80 and they were great. Sadly the original drummer “Mac” is not on this LP. He was a whirling dervish and in the year above me at school.

Today’s vinyl delivery from (possibly) the Godfathers of Punk! “Demo Record” of “Saturday Night” by The Bay City Rollers’ early line up featuring top man Gordon “Nobby” Clark on lead vocals. The Ramones clearly loved it too and used it as a map to direct them onwards and upwards.

Watching “Top Of The Pops - 2000” and reminded of the times when you could be on TV and also sign on the dole. Props to the keyboard player fella (or lady) wearing the rubber “alien” mask! 🎼😎🎼
