Finally finally finally got myself to a Trombone Shorty show last night. And it was EPIC! The talent of each of his band members, the energy, the music. It was good therapy. I’m still riding a high today. Been onto him for about 15-ish years and finally saw him live and it did NOT disappoint.

This is not new. Too many people have had to work until they literally die. My grandma was one of them. She worked until the day she had a stroke. Literally. A massive stroke that left her completely incapacited. My dad worked until the day he died. And I’ll carry on the family tradition.

So many low-wage workers ALREADY had to work until they died; this economy, wages failing to keep pace with inflation, and the widening wealth gap make this even worse.

Not many things are better than when a dog just relaxes into you. Love my granddood when he’s snuggly, wily, goofy, derpy, silly, feisty, or whatever. He’s the best. I love our snuggle time.

I cannot emphasize enough how critical this is. I’d also love to do a thread of how this is connected to the criminal regime wanting to do away with “birthright” citizenship. But I’m not doing that today. You can do the intellectual labor of drawing those threads.

I’m a Texan trans kid who almost died because of Ken Paxton. The world should know what he’s done. This was very difficult for me to write, but given what's at stake, I cannot bear to stay silent about what I went through at Paxton's hands. He must not be rewarded for what he's done to trans kids.

First, check and double check your voter registration. Particularly if you’re living in a regressive GOP state. Second, this is why I get so annoyed with folx who commemorate 100 years of women getting the vote. Cuz no. That ain’t it baby.
