Another launch event for Anti-Racist Medicine, at the University of Oxford, in the historic Divinity School. We centred this event around the issue of deep disagreement: some things are obviously wrong (e.g. denying racism exists), but there is terrain to debate like other academic subjects.
Grateful to see "Anti-Racist Medicine" featured in this double-page spread in the London Daily. The headline says it all: we have provided a "blueprint" for a truly equitable NHS. Now is the time to take action: please get in touch for collaboration and where we can go next.
It was a delight to be on the BMJ Sharp Scratch podcast, talking about education around race and ethnicity in medical school. We had a really interesting discussion about how we can make medical school anti-racist. open.spotify.com/episode/5kIz...

"ANTI-RACIST MEDICINE" LAUNCHED IN THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT TODAY 🏛️ I called out governments and institutions withdrawing from anti-racism work. This book argues the opposite: ignoring ethnic disparities is not just a moral failure—it is a clinical one. 25% off here: tinyurl.com/53d2knxy BAFF20
This is exciting!

Racism in medicine is not only historical. It is still being built into clinical systems today. This STI screening tool used within the NHS, which I came across recently, is a contemporary example of how racialised assumptions can still shape clinical systems. 1/5
