This case highlights the extreme inequality of the law and its enforcement. "Property" rights - in a lobster - pursued all the way to a police raid & strip searches. But we can do whatever the hell we want to marine wildlife. Take one step back and it all looks mad. theecologist.org/2026/apr/28/...
I liberated a lobster and got crushed

A team of researchers led by the University of Aberdeen has found that private gardens played a vital role in supporting people's well-being during the UK's first Covid-19 lockdown, when access to public green spaces was significantly restricted. 🔗 www.abdn.ac.uk/news/...
The joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran represent a further erosion of the international legal order. Under international law, these attacks are neither preemptive nor lawful. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/a...
Came across a sleeping fox yesterday. It was a little high up on an old quarry ledge, but close enough to get a decent photo with the phone #foxoftheday

The last 3 years have been the hottest in around 125,000 years. CO2 levels are their highest in MILLIONS of years. But most people have no idea this is happening, let alone what it means for our kids’ futures. Our politics & media have failed our children. We should be furious.
We heard the Cicada's "singing" in the trees opposite the holiday apartment in Liguria. On closer inspection today I found several exoskeletons from the Cicada nymphs, now emerged as adults, attached to the trunks of the trees. Possibly the ones we heard singing the past few days!
Test print for my linocut red squirrel. My skills/technique coming along, but still early days and much to work on.
If this all sounds a bit risky and radical, don't just take my word for it - check out @davegoulson.bsky.social 's excellent video here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZ1a...

"Apologists for Israel might want to reject the charge of genocide [and] suggest its hyperbole or even antisemitic, but the actual experts on genocide know a genocide when they see one - and they see one in Gaza." My receipts on all the experts who say Gaza *is* a genocide. zeteo.com/subscribe
"Il Ciabot", my attempt at a linocut print. Still a bit to learn and improve. (A Ciabot is a Piemontese term in north west Italy, for a kind of hut/small building, often in the middle of vineyards).
Working in my garden office hut on this warm and sunny day with the door open. A nice sky!
It's time to reduce your meat consumption, if you haven't already done so. You don't have to give up completely, just reduce, although I've been vegetarian for 53 years now and I can vouch for it.

BREAKING 🚨: WE WON OUR CASE AGAINST ROSEBANK. The court has ruled the oil field UNLAWFUL and Rosebank’s approval has been overturned. This is a monumental victory in the fight for a liveable future for all.
An excellent gift from my wife on my big birthday, following on from the pre-birthday lunch and the Whisky Experience yesterday. Looking forward to this.
Found some photographs of self portraits I drew/painted many years ago: "but I was so much older then I’m younger than that now". The painting (colour) was called Mr Gray's School Daze! Whatever happened to it? I think I still have the other two drawing somewhere.
