It is very hard to see how anything other than a secession of all UEFA countries from Fifa (which other confederations would follow, as the WC is worth very little without European teams and markets) can put a stop to the assault Infantino and his US friends are leading on football.

England penalised for their overly defensive, negative attitude. Look at their positioning when the ball is passed back to Enzo Fernandez, a great striker of the football. Every single player in the 18-yard box. Not a single player within 5 yards of Fernandez. #ENGARG #WorldCup

Remarkably, if you were listening to the BBC’s commentary you wouldn’t even hear mention of the possibility that a two-footed aerial challenge on a striker through on goal could be a penalty. Unremarkably, another World Cup refereeing team failed to give a key decision to the lower-ranked nation.

Can anyone credibly argue that PSG defeating a team that cost €1bn in transfe fees and chose to play that way was anything other than a win for football? Paris Saint-Germain deservedly become the first club other than Real Madrid to win back-to-back European Cups in 36 years. #PSGARS #UCLFinal

Descanse em paz, o grande Silvino Louro. Silvino excelled as a goalkeeper, winning 11 titles in Portugal; captaining his country. Silvino excelled as a goalkeeping coach, winning 2 Champions Leagues amongst 25 titles as a key part of Jose Mourinho’s best staff. One of football’s truly good guys.
