'Ages come and ages pass, and all the wonders of old fade to dust in the endless eras beyond their building. What once was worshiped, wastes away, what once was sacred slips into silence, what was raised rusts, reduced to rubble and ruin by the technology of tomorrow, remembered only by a remnant.'

'For some, the searing sun of summertime may be sublime, but not all. A few find favor in the chill caress of the winds of winter, in the solitude of snow, and the comforting caress of the cold. For these, there is no sweeter sight than morning mists in the dim dawn of the day.'

Almost Home, 2026 ❄️ Acrylic on board, 20x20 cm. I actually finished this when we still had snow, but I've been slow with scanning stuff recently. #art #acrylic #cats #painting

Acrylic painting of a snowy scenery. A gray cat is sitting on the foreground, looking towards a snow-covered house on the other side of a field, smoke rising from the chimney. A pale sun can only just be seen through the flurry.

'Within the shell of a dead mountain, within the walls of the earth itself, they built a city, safe and sound. No matter the raging storms of the world without, the cliffs and heights would protect those who called the city home, sheltered and secure in their own little world within the world.'

'Oh little littoral lighthouse, beaming your becalming beacon beyond the bay, weathering withering waves and winds to warn the wary away, may you stand steadfast and sure upon the shore, atop the ridge of your rocky reef, aiding all who sail the seas, seeking safety among squall and storm.' #Safety

It always warms my heart a little bit when folks make up their own stories from my work. I'd love to see what other stories folks think up. While I always have my own tales in mind I would love to hear more of what other folks envision when they see my stuff so please feel free to riff.

'It was so strange, so absurd. She was the goddess of wild places and all natural life but her adherents worshiped her, not in old high places nor in sacred groves or streams, but in highly artificed temples, in sanctuaries of stone and silence, far from the wild world she ruled. So… unnatural….'

'The world of today, and what we build for tomorrow, oft throws shadows upon the pillars of the past, letting languish what once were the pillars of our prosperity, the souls of our society. What once was a wonder can wane and waste away, forgotten, fading forever into ruin and relic.' #Antiquated

Finished this recently, forgot to share. Wanted to do some kind of environment with destroyed machines, started with zero visual concept in my head and let the piece develop as I go. #art #artup #digitalart #scifi #scifiart

A mysterious figure carrying a staff and wearing a strange polyhedral helmet stands on a cliff in a barren landscape and observes ruins of giant machine, possibly a robot. The destruction has been recent based on the smoke and dust surrounding the machine.

'Untouched, untrammeled, untamed in an age when even the furthest fields and ranges were being claimed and named by the ever enveloping encroachment of mankind. This land was yet free of such settlements, the indomitable domain of some of the other living creatures of the world.' #LetNatureBeNatural

#ArtRepostJuly Didn't know this was a thing but I also have an environment I want to share. An old one I'm still proud of almost a decade later that got folded into my world of Esmeralda.

'The behemoth scared many when first it appeared, emerging slowly from the melting ices. Then, they thought it was dead, so slow did it move. Then, as ages wore on and no danger arose, the dragon was, adored, worshiped, and then ignored. One more benign feature of the land around them.' #Fantasy

'Winters wax and winters wane, every year, again and again, but every fresh frost and freeze, ever sooner did winter seize, ice and snow assailing fields, every year grew smaller yields. Someday soon, this land will wither, and winter will come and stay forever.'

It’s a bit of a dull day here so far, so I figured I’d run with it. Merry Christmas. Winter field. #Watercolour on paper, 8x10 in. #Watercolor #YukonArt Painting of the day 1759.

Painting of a bleak field in winter with a raven flying in the distance.

Every wave is a moment in motion, every second of the sun's setting is another gone forever. Ever brief, yet ever glorious, even as the hues fade away, even as the light dims and diminishes, and our vision grows grayer and graver, even then there is awe, even then there is hope. #impermanence 1/4
