I have loved Microbiology since I got that microscope for Christmas, which was not all that long after that photo was taken. I still have the microscope…the boyhood looks, not so much.

After a bit of a rough patch my lab's funding situation has taken a significant upturn, so if you're looking for a Postdoc position please keep us in mind...Pseudomonas aeruginosa genetics, regulation, and physiology - with a focus on the cell envelope. Please repost. andrewdarwinlab.org

Happy birthday to our co-founder, Dr. Jan Vilcek! From growing up in Bratislava to making life-changing breakthroughs in the lab at NYU Langone, Jan’s story is one of curiosity, courage, and a whole lot of heart. We’re lucky to work alongside him to celebrate immigrant contributions to the U.S.

Remember, many recommendation letters you were asked to fill out are due December 1st (many emails DON'T say this for whatever stupid reason). That is before you return to work after Thanksgiving since it is so late. Do it before you eat that Turkey. The students will have less indigestion.
