I had the pleasure of visiting local businesses with the Queen West BIA yesterday; my first community engagement event since joining the membership team at Destination Toronto. A city that people want to visit, is a city built on community.

There is a huge opening in Ontario for a left-wing party to make fiscal responsibility in public works one of their core pillars. We are needlessly setting billions of dollars on fire year after year because we cannot get procurement and project cost containment under control.

Metrolinx has signed a $4.32 billion contract to build 3km of tunnel and 2 underground stations between Gerrard and Minton Place Portal. At $1.4 billion/km for civil works (not even the full price!), this is one of the worst value subway contracts in world history.

Waiting for the King Streetcar. 4 streetcars backed up. 5 personal cars driving straight through, but the intersection is blocked through a full light cycle anyways A massive failure from Chow, Myers, & Saxe. They should be hounded until they provide answers and solutions that justify reelection.

My Toronto Star take on festival challenges: 1. Crowds aren’t the problem; poor spatial planning is. Many festivals have outgrown the car-centric streets and spaces where they began. Their growth needs to be matched with permanent pedestrianization, better design, and placemaking approaches.

It’s important to understand that when 1.2 million Americans are dying from a disease, any government action is excessive and tyrannical, but if a dozen trans women want to play soccer no government action can go far enough

Saw Hadestown Pro-Shot last night. Brings back the joy of seeing the OG cast just before COVID. Great camera work that moved with the music and wasn't afraid of a long shot (though I think the show naturally lends itself really well to be filmed). Read Glenn's review and go see it!

Over the weekend, the live capture of @hadestownmusical.bsky.social earned $10.2 million. It’s expanding to more theatres this week. I look at why it’s so damn effective - one of the best pro-shots I’ve seen - in my newsletter. www.goaheadsumi.com/why-the-hade...

Politicians from Brad Bradford to Josh Matlow are talking about more policing but none of them are talking about the widespread corruption we’re seeing in the Toronto force (or across Canada). I think this is a big problem.
