A research and study group focused on the politics and international relations of the East Asian region based at @warwickpais.bsky.social We discuss and investigate the paradoxical challenges the East Asian region poses to traditional IR theories.

Our final talk of the year, and we are ending on a high note with this fascinating discussion of how the military juntas of Thailand and Myanmar have adapted their economies to survive post-coup. Reach out if you want a Teams link to the event, or just contact easg@warwick.ac.uk directly.

Our EASG coordinator, @maxwarrack.bsky.social, recently published on The Pacific Review about the rehabilitation of military violence in Japan. Make sure to check his article out for a fresh take on Japan's remilitarisation and the role of popular culture in enabling it.
