A couple of red kites bullying the local buzzards this morning, who preferred to perch up until they had drifted over. Looking back at their entry in the Encyclopedia of Birds from the late 70s, how their distribution has changed!

Great views of Easingwold's peregrine perched at top of electric pylon this morning. Kestrel 2/3 of the way down and size difference was glaring. Good view of face, underparts buff and streaked so I think juvenile, noisy calling that fitted the bill, too.

Good views of grey partridge, and adult and juvenile great spotted woodpecker, the latter's full red crown prominent.

Lots of fledged young being noisily fed: swallows, pied wagtails, wrens, goldfinches and kestrels.

Distant sighting of a peregrine again today. Third in the last few weeks. Not sure where it would have nested round here @nybirdnews.bsky.social

My pair of yellow wagtails appeared again in the tall wheat today, after being out of sight for about a month. Must have nested by now.
