It's definitly not a matter of "press A to accelerate and forget"; there's a learning curve. The steering responds too abruptly (played with Controller), and the sliding does too. It lacks that feeling of being in control. Please also include a reverse gear. Over all: it's Yooka & Laylee, so I like.
