The sixth and last workshop "Who Holds Responsibility in Global Supply Chains? Concepts from the Global South to Rethink European Corporate Governance" explores how perspectives and concepts from the Global South can inform more inclusive approaches to mandatory due diligence governance. 1/2

Workshop 4 "Virology and Pandemic Preparedness: Building Scotland-Lower Saxony Collaborations for Global Health" mentions there is an incredible potential of the applications of artificial intelligence to identify proteine structure & clarifies that not vaccines save lives but vaccination does. 1/2

Workshop 3 "Enabling the Heating and Cooling Transition: A Strategic Workshop for Cross-Border Cooperation on Underground Thermal Energy Storage (UTES)" mentions heat storage is a crucial part in the energy transition & there are vast opportunities for energy storage in Scotland & Lower Saxony. 1/2

Workshop 2 „Educating for Responsible Al: Cross-Cultural Perspectives on Ethics and Literacy" examines how Al in universities across Germany/EU and UK can lower the barrier to engage with unknown topics but could also lead to longterm loss of knowledge retention through missing Al literacy. 1/2

Workshop 1 "Opportunities and Challenges in Scotland and Lower Saxony for Clinician Scientists" is exploring opportunities and challenges in training and supporting clinical academies, drawing on experiences from dedicated programs in Scotland and Lower Saxony. 1/2

The second day of the #JointForum2025 has begun! Prior to the workshops, Dr. Lauren Douglas @royalsoced.bsky.social and Dr. Harald Barre @volkswagenstiftung.de pointed out the success of the first round of the Lower Saxony - Scotland Research and Innovation Scheme and presented its two streams.

The first day of the Joint Forum 2025 is slowly coming to an end. The participants appreciated the closing words of ECAS Academic Directors Prof. Dr. James Conroy and Prof. Dr. Markus Reihlen. During the reception, they concluded the day with a tour through the @royalsoced.bsky.social.
