Yep. An answer which isn't a proper answer but at least acknowledges the question will be less frustrating than an answer that ignores the question and parrots the lines.

It reads like he's genuinely thinking about the answer, rather than starting from a point of defensive suspicion. So even if the answer is similar, the tone/vibe is poles apart.

One difference between Burnham and Starmer is Burnham at least acknowledges the Q he's been asked. Starmer would go straight to 'special relationship' talking points in answer to this Q (from C5 News) and ignored the substance. Burnham gives talking points *and* a response
