MDNI | N/SFW | 21+ A very self-indulgent portrayal of The Witch from the Left 4 Dead games. (pfp by @Gernerly on X)
"GRRAAAAAAAAHHHH!!" The Witch is punched away by Denji, carrying two fingers in it's mouth that it managed to rip off. The chain grabbed her soon after, and she was held above the Chainsaw Devil, glaring back down at his yellow eyes with her own red ones.
โ Clearly trading blows was the worst call here. Each tear of flesh only seemed to fuel one another. Using the devils strength with him. His arm saw melted to a mush and his fist made contact with a blow strong enough to separate the two. A chunk of him taken along with her. โ
Witch Survival Guide entry 9: Very, very, occasionally, the Witch's bloodlust and fears subside. In these moments, it is possible to pet the Witch. (We hold no responsibility of injury, loss of limb, or death that comes as a result of petting The Witch.)
Shining the light upstairs revealed, for a split second, red eyes glaring down at Gabrielle before they pulled away out of sight, and running footsteps could be heard above her. Thankfully only a few moments later, the Soldier returned, looking at the stairs before turning to Gabrielle.
ใ ค The soldier had disappeared into the darkness and she, again, had been left alone with a gun in one hand and a flashlight in the other. At least, now she had something to defend herself with, but she had a bad feeling. They would get out of this alive, right? Gabrielle refused to die ยป
"Two guns are better than one. Don't worry, best case scenario, you won't need to lift a finger." The unlikely duo made their way down the alley, tracking the Witch's trail. It led to a torn-open gate behind which a large abandoned office building stood.
ใ ค She didnโt know what was happening and how, suddenly, she had been involved in something like that. Gabrielle knew how to defend herself, she also knew how to use firearms, at least the small ones, but she was not a soldierโshe was not trained, she had no idea of that world in first person. The ยป
"Doesn't matter. I have orders, and now you do too." The Soldier steps past Gabrielle, looking down at the fresh trail of blood. "That thing killed nine of my men. We barely had time to react." They glance back at Gabrielle for a moment, silent.
ใ ค For just a moment, she thought Leon might be the one whoโd fired those shots. It wasnโt him, of course. Her ears were ringing from the unexpected roar of the bullets, but above all from the creatureโs piercing screams. For a mere second she thought she would die right thereโthe next second, she ยป
"GRRRREEAAAAAHHHH!!!" Seemingly unphased by the transformation the Witch charges at him still, until finally the two impact in a bloody brawl.
โ Itโs an ear piercing burst. Not even registering the heavy footsteps at first till his eyes finally open and he recovers in a backwards stumble. โ๐ฐ๐๐๐- ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ .แ .แโ โ ๐๐๐๐.แ โ Itโs probably a sound sheโs heard before from taking on other survivors. โ
"......" The Witch's growling stops at Denji's words before her head tilts up, looking towards him with red eyes as her body begins trembling. She inhales sharply before letting out an absolutely ear-bursting scream.
โ The intensity is already building. The screeches putting him in high alert before he can really even give any witty banter. A hand digs in between the pocket of his buttoned shirt and hooks the ripcord.
"G...GrrRRRGGHHH..." Said Devil clasped her hands against her head, face obscured from view. Blood from her claws smeared in her white hair as she repeatedly opened cuts on her own head.

Gabrielle's scream echoed in the empty alley, and her elbow landed solidly against the Infected's side, another growl escaping her throat. The Witch's hands grabbed her shoulder with one hand, her head with the other, and exposed her neck to it's gaze.
ใ ค In the blink of an eye, that creature was upon her, about toโฆ kill her? Gabrielle had panicked and, this time, let out a scream of terror hoping that someone would hear her and come to her rescue. She had her back to the monster, which made her feel even more uncertain and afraid. She began ยป
Gabrielle's panicked running was followed by slow yet steady footsteps as the growling Infected watched her run. And her fearful sprint was soon ended as the puddle made her fall to the floor, winded from the sudden impact.
ใ ค Her first thought was of Leon and the times theyโd talked about his missions and the creatures heโd had to face. Sheโd never imagined sheโd come across one herself, and so suddenly. Was it even a zombie? Could it be something else? Her confusion soared, but so did her fear. A cry of terror ยป

"......." The whispering comes to a silence as Gabrielle's presence seems to be detected. Slowly, the claws lower from the woman's face, and red eyes lock onto Gabrielle's own. "G...Grr...RRHHH..."
ใ ค What was found stole her breath and accelerated her pulse, as if her body already wanted to flee from there. The figure of the woman conveyed insecurity and fear, which increased when she realised the trail of blood that stained the ground and the bullet holes that decorated her skin. The sounds ยป
"Grrrrghhh...." She lacked the proper faculties to articulate what she wished to say to Tammy, having to settle for an odd growl. The intial shock of a friendly survivor, odd as she may be, had faded somewhat, replaced now by concern for the clearly troubled woman.
Tammy couldn't remember the last time she was kind to someone like this. That's probably not a good thing. Her own warmth felt foreign to her- She always felt cold, both figuratively and literally, but lately it felt like she was regaining the bits of humanity that she had lost over the years.
The Witch shakes her head in reply. Fear had been a constant in her life, all across the fragmented memories still rattling in her head. But right now she felt the most calm she had in a long time. Ever since... She couldn't remember that far back.
She was real. Not a hallucination, not a ghost, not a... " Ha, yeah, I uh... " What was the best way to approach the story behind this? Many asked before her, but the answer was always... Morbid. But she could try, maybe fail, to explain it in a way that wasn't?
The next step brought Gabrielle closer to where the wailing was, and able to now see the figure of a scrawny-looking woman laying on her side behind the car. The trail of liquid she'd seen earlier led to this woman, and Gabrielle could now see it was clearly blood.
ใ ค She felt that something was off. She had left the gun inside, so she wasnโt armed either. She should go back to the pub and ask one of her coworkers for help, but in turn she couldnโt moveโshe had seen the silhouette of the leg, now the crying couldnโt be heard and she was sure that there was ยป
The Witch continues eyeing Tammy, the attempt at humor seemingly lost on the Infected as it studies her closely. Long claws drum against the floor in a twitchy manner, leaving grooves in rotted wood. A few seconds pass before the Witch moves again.
" Yeah, I'll stay. " She isn't sure for how long, or what will happen afterwards. Would the Witch tag along with her, or would she even live long enough to-? Her thoughts are interrupted by the other moving closer. Tammy doesn't move away.
At Tammy's words, the Witch's head slowly rises from being buried in her arms, looking over at the other woman. "..."
" You're not a monster. " She says it before she thinks, but she meant what she said. If this was any other infected she wouldn't be here, feeling empathy for her. Sure, their experiences were different but there were some connections to be made the more she thought about it.
๐ก๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ...? ๐ ๐ป๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ...? The Witch seems stunned by the question, completely quiet for a few moments. ๐ง๐ต๐ฎ๐'๐ ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐...๐ ๐ต๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ฎ ๐ป๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ... Memories suddenly explode across the Witch's mind, like spring freshly unearthed.
Why? Good question. Her eye glances up to the ceiling while she thinks of an answer. But an answer does come to her, finally giving eye contact again. Even still, her face couldn't be seen, it's as if she didn't have one.
The sight of the pistol being unholstered seems to enrage the Witch, a sudden hissing growl coming to her throat alike typical Witches, before returning to silence as TAM places it on the floor.
She's about to say something, but the other darting across the room gets her to stop- Even flinching a little, but after a few seconds of processing what was going on, her attitude changes completely. The Witch was... Lucid? Or as close to it as an infected could be.
The eye contact between them is testing. Both are unsure of what the other could or will do. The Witch shuffles slightly in place, turning to face TAM more fully, glancing over her as her clawed hands twitch.
And in the darkness, even with her face shrouded in it, she stares back. A single eye manages to pierce through the shadows. Her posture straightens, anticipating aggression... But pauses when there is none. She was close enough, wasn't she? Her head tilts slightly, confused.
