"We are the last continent in the world to have bird flu, it's quite remarkable that it hasn't come here already...that's meant...that we have had time … to make sure we're as well prepared as we possibly can be." But very frustratingly, we are not, Minister Watt! www.abc.net.au/news/2026-08...

'List of doom' outlines birds facing extinction if deadly flu spreads

A list of thousands of Australian species have been ranked by threat level as the deadly H5 bird flu spreads.

Here comes the Fafocene. Untold misery for billions. Extinction for so many species. A white-hot wrecking ball through the web of life. Denialists and delayers? Happy now? Proud of yourselves? [Glad I never bred. One of my few smart moves.]

Drought in Engand 👇with some areas in their 4th heatwave this year. @hayleyjfowler.bsky.social : "This drought isn't just about a lack of rain. It's the result of hotter temperatures from a warming climate, rising water demand, ageing infrastructure & too much water being lost through leaks."

Map of drought, prolonged dry weather, and 'normal' only in the north east of England

It’s only nighttime. ❌ - Cats kill native wildlife, day AND night It’s only new cats. ❌ - That's a LOT of cats that will still be able to roam, harming/killing wildlife and potentially coming to harm/being killed themselves They’re looking into the nonsense that is trap, neuter, and release. ❌

This is the outcome, it’s very disappointing, City of Boroondara. It’s inconsistent with an evidence-based and best practice approach to wildlife protection and cat welfare www.boroondara.vic.gov.au/your-council...

Even if Bordeaux is not evacuated, not burnt, think of the damage to people's lungs, hearts, souls. Think of children left with nightmares, all the other species burned out, the fraying and collapsing webs of life. This is just the beginning of the Fafocene, one of the coolest summers of our lives.
